Danish Brand Baum Sweeps Three International Design Awards for the ellipse™ Studio Headphone
AARHUS, DENMARK — Baum Guitars, the Danish brand known for its modern, design-driven instruments, has been awarded three prestigious international design awards for its debut audio product: the ellipse™ studio headphone.
The ellipse™ has been honored with a Top Design Winner prize at the European Product Design Awards, a Gold Award at the New York Product Design Awards, and a Platinum Award at the London Design Awards.
The awards recognize the ellipse™ for its blend of uncompromising audio performance, durable materials, and a distinctive visual identity that bridges the gap between classic studio gear and Nordic minimalism.
“We are musicians and hi-fi enthusiasts first,” says Morten Bau, founder and lead designer at Baum Guitars. “We wanted to create a headphone that sounded true to us—alive, dynamic, and transparent—without the compromises we so often see in modern audio gear. To have the international design community recognize that vision across three different continents is a massive validation of what we set out to do.”

- London Design Awards 2025: Platinum Winner. The London jury commended the headphone's "Form is Function" philosophy, specifically noting the contrast of rugged leather with retro velour, and the durable, repairable nature of the design
The ellipse™ was designed as a direct response to a market saturated with disposable, plastic-heavy wireless headphones. By choosing a wired connection, Baum ensured zero latency and uncompressed audio delivery. By choosing materials like powder-coated aluminium, brass, and replaceable velour earcups, they ensured the headphone could last for decades rather than years.
"Our goal was never to make an expensive headphone," Bau adds. "But because we refuse to compromise on the sound system and the materials, we aimed for a sweet spot where quality and longevity meet. These awards prove that there is a real appetite for gear built with intention."
